    Dazaifu Tenman-gu Shrine
    A historical shrine worshiping the god of study which gets about 8,000,000 visitors every year. On the grounds there are omikukuji (fortune slips) whose color changes with each season and a bronze bull statue which is said to make anyone who rubs his head smart, and it is also known as a place proud of the roughly 6,000 plum trees which bloom in February and March. The approach to the shrine is lined with shops selling "Umegae Mochi" (grilled mochi rice cakes filled with sweet red bean paste) and souvenirs.
  • Yanagawa River Cruising
    In Yanagawa, a trench (waterway), a remnant of the castle town, stretches from the center of the town, and it is called "Oriental Venice." Going down the river on the "Donko Boat," listening to the boatman's light talk and songs, you can look at the idyllic cityscape. There are many bridges on the course and you can also enjoy thrilling experiences such as going under the head-grazing bridge.

  • Takeo Onsen
    With famous hot springs boasting a history of more than 1300 years, from its excellent heat retention and gentle to the skin moisturizing, it is called "Beauty Water." The vermillion tower gate is a symbol of Takeo Onsen built by Kingo Tatsuno, also known for designing Tokyo Station. The colorful gate built with a construction method that does not use a single nail is worth seeing once. A morning market is held every Sunday.

    Arita is the first area in Japan to have pottery fired. Even now there are a lot of pottery stands in the town and from a kiln which protects the traditional style to modern taste kilns, you can enjoy touring a rich variety of studios. There are trial workshops where you can turn the wheel to form the clay into the shape of a vessel, or draw pictures on vessels, and even beginners can feel at ease because they can receive advice from craftsmen.
  • Nagasaki, Peace Park
    Nagasaki is a city that became an atomic bomb disaster area in World War II so, in the Peace Park made with wishes for world peace, there is a bronze peace memorial statue installed with a height of 9.7 meters and weight of 30 tons. In the city there is a streetcar, an elegant vehicle that creates a traveling mood. The standard souvenir is castella. There are many stores with this steamed cake made with lots of eggs.

    In the garden are many houses of foreign traders who supported the modernization of Japan 150 years ago. The World Heritage Site registered as the oldest existing wooden Western style building in Japan is in the garden. Try to find the "heart stones," said to make wishes come true if touched, which are hidden in two places in the garden. On the other side there is Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard, also a World Heritage Site, which you can see from the garden.
  • Chinatown
    One of Japan's three largest Chinatowns, there are roughly 40 Chinese restaurants and other shops. "Nagasaki Champon" is a local specialty food that is noodles cooked in pork or chicken soup with sea food and other ingredients. You can eat it at most of the restaurants in Chinatown. Besides that, there are plenty of other Chinese foods unique to Nagasaki such as saraudon, kakuni man, yoriyori, and more.

    Along with Hong Kong and Monaco, Nagasaki is certified as one of the "World's Best Three Night Views" and you can enjoy the best spot to see the night view. Ride the ropeway to the top of the mountain and see the large panorama that is also called the "$10 Million Night View" from the observation platform. The gondola of the ropeway has windows all around so you can see the beautiful townscape as you ride to the top of the mountain.

  • 01 Unzen onsen

    Unzen onsen
    Unzen onsen hot springs town is dotted with about 30 "hells," and you can see the high temperature hot springs and the violently erupting gases. Strong acidic sulfur water is characteristic of Unzen hot spring. Bathing is said to be highly effective against skin diseases. Also popular are "Ashimushi," putting feet on to experience the geothermal heat and gases, and hard boiled eggs cooked in the hot springs steam of Unzen hell, about which it is said "eat one, live one year longer."
  • Shimabara Castle Town
    In Shimabara, called "Mizu no Miyako," or water capital, water springs from everywhere in the city and koi fish swim elegantly in the waterways. There are also abundant spots unique to a castle town including Shimabara Castle with its characteristic white walled castle tower, and the residences of many samurai who lived there. There are plenty of gourmet local specialties including "guzoni," a lot of hot pot dishes, rare black noodles made from potatoes, "Rakubee," and "kanzarashi," dumplings cooled with spring water flavored with sweet syrup.

    Kumamoto's must-eat gourmet specialty is fresh horse meat. The standard way is to eat it as "uma sashi," with soy sauce that has something astringent like grated ginger, garlic or onion added to it. You can eat the fresh, red marbled meat lightly like sashimi. Other popular dishes are sushi made with horse meat sashimi and horse meat hot pot. Besides horse meat, there are many other famous dishes like "Karashi Renkon," "Taipien" (vermicelli noodle soup), and others.

    Kumamoto Castle Suizen-ji Joju-en Garden
    "Kumamoto Castle," a symbol of Kumamoto, was built in 1601 and rose as an impregnable castle. In 2016, it was severely damaged in an earthquake so access is restricted but you can still see the majestic castle tower and watch tower. "Suizen-ji Joju-en" is a Japanese garden from the same period as Kumamoto castle. It is a popular spot where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of all four seasons while strolling inside the garden.
  • Ebino Plateau
    It is located in the northern part of Japan's first national park "Kirishima-Yaku National Park" at an altitude of 1200 m. Hiking where you can experience nature is recommended here. A course that can be reached in about 2 hours is also set up. You can enjoy rich scenery which changes each season such as the pink Miyama Kirishima blooming in spring, the trees chosen among the top "100 Forest Picks," the colored leaves in autumn, and more.

    There are five hot-spring resorts scattered about Kirishima, and with nine of the eleven kinds of spring water on the planet gushing here, it is a rare hot springs area in the whole country. At "Kirishima Jingu Shrine," the largest shrine in southern Kyushu, there is a mysterious contrast in the dense green approach to the shrine and the luxurious grand shrine itself. If you eat the special local product, dishes made with kurobuta pork are recommended. You can taste the juicy premium pork in pork cutlet and shabu shabu (hot pot), and more.
  • Ibusuki "Sunamushi Onsen"
    Ibusuki is located in the southernmost part of Kyushu and is a hot springs resort called "Oriental Hawaii." "Sunamushi Onsen," laying on sand warmed by hot spring heat covered in sand and sweat is the Ibusuki style bath. Also, there is a spectacular outdoor bath where you can see magnificent Kaimondake and you can enjoy hot springs in your favorite style. Boasting the largest production volume in Japan, there are various types of sweets made with 'Sora Mame' (broad beans) here.

    Fukiagehama
    Counted as one of three major sand dunes in Japan, the white sand beach is 2-5 km wide, and continuing over 47 km from north to south, it is the longest sand dune in Japan by distance. There is plenty of recreation like "Nagisa no Amashio-kan," where you can experience the making of salt from seawater, "Kenritsu Fukiagehama Seaside Park," where you can enjoy cycling, and more. Every year at the "Sand Festival" held in May, there are many sand sculptures as large as several meters lined up and it is crowed with people.
  • Kagoshima Ramen
    Along with kurobuta pork, Satsuma jidori chicken, shirokuma (shaved ice), a Kagoshima delicacy you can't miss is ramen. Of all the regional specialty ramen varieties in Kyushu, its appeal is the unique taste that distinguishes it from others. The standard is a refreshing soup made by adding pork bones to chicken broth, with thick noodles and cabbage and other vegetables. You can enjoy eating and comparing at long-established stores with more than 50 years of history or sharp new stores.

  • Nichinan Coast, Udo-jingu
    With long daylight hours, Miyazaki is the land of the sun and it is warm throughout the year. The Nichinan Coast, where the horizontal line overlooking the Pacific continues, is the best driving course. The red colored main hall built into a cave is the feature of Udo-jingu Shrine along the coast and the view of the sea is fascinating. Here, in a hollow under the cliff, you can try your luck by throwing a stone called "untama" or "lucky stone."

  • 01 Takachiho Gorge

    In a V-shaped canyon made by ancient volcanic activity, at a high place, the cliff which extends 100 meters continues for about 7 km east to west. A waterfall flows in the canyon and the sun that spills out among the trees produces a fantastic space. Approaching the waterfall in a row boat, you can also look up at the waterfall from the bottom. It is also famous as one of Japan's most powerful spots derived from mythology.
  • Aka-ushi Lunch
    Aso, where magnificent nature spreads out around Mt. Aso, is a tourist area representative of Kyushu. Aso's gourmet food is cooking made with "Aka-ushi." Raised in Aso which is blessed with water and green grass, it is a rare cattle that is less than 1% of the beef consumed in Japan and it features a juicy lean taste. You can eat it in a rich variety of cooking such as steak, hamburger, rice bowl, and more.

    Beppu Onsen shines as the nation's number one hot springs spot, with the most sources and largest quantity of water. "Blood Pond Hell," stained vermillion, and vivid blue sea hell, "hell water spouts," from which hot water and steam frequently blow, and "Jigoku Meguri" (or hell tour), going to the eight natural thermal spring locations around Beppu, are included in the basic sightseeing course. Choose from local gourmet specialties like chicken tempura, cold noodles, and "Hell Steam Pudding," cooked in the steam from the heat of the hot springs.
  • Kitsuki Castle Town
    Kitsuki has a samurai residence on the north-south hill and a merchant's city was wedged in the valley so it is an unusual sandwich-like castle town. If you change into a rental kimono and walk down the stone paved slope, you can go back in time to the Edo period. From the lovely-sized Kitsuki you can see the 360 degree panoramic view. If you get hungry, eat the two local gourmet foods. You can taste "Kitsuki Sandwich," various sandwiches named after the shape of the town, and "Kitsuki Do-todon," a rice bowl stuffed with a mountain of diverse seafood.

    In Mojiko harbor, which once prospered as an international trade port, Western-style buildings left from 100 years ago stand side. Additionally, seafood such as octopus raised in the fast ocean current of the Kanmon Strait are excellent dishes. "Yaki Curry," curry rice baked in an oven, is a gourmet specialty of Mojiko and is offered by more than 30 shops.
  • Hakata "motsu nabe"
    Hakata's representative gourmet food "motsu nabe," is a kind of hot pot made of fresh cow organ meats, Chinese garlic, cabbage and other vegetables simmered in a soup base. With lots of collagen and vegetables, it is healthy so in Japan it is very popular with women. The standard soup flavors are miso and soy sauce. After you finish eating everything, add rice or champon noodles to the pot and enjoy the last of the soup.
