    “Kumamoto Castle,” a symbol of Kumamoto , was built in 1601 and rose as an impregnable castle. In 2016, it was severely damaged in an earthquake so access is restricted but you can see the majestic castle tower and watch tower. In the area which you can enter, you will be welcomed by “Kumamoto Hospitality Bushoutai” in armor and kimono. Which warlords you will be able to meet is something to look forward to that day. “Suizen-ji Joju-en” is a Japanese garden from the same period as Kumamoto castle. It is a popular spot where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of all four seasons while strolling inside the garden.
  • Amakusa
    Amakusa in the southwest part of Kumamoto is an area consisting of approximately 120 islands, large and small. Islands only, the taste of the seafood is exceptional. A rich variety of seafood such as octopus, shrimp, sea bream, and sea urchin, is exceptionally fresh. Amakusa's feature is that hot springs are scattered in various places. Many hot springs are on the seaside and from the outdoor bath you can see a panoramic view of the ocean scenery. In the western area is a treasure trove of famous sunset spots such as "Takabutoyama Observation Deck" and "Nishibiratsubaki Park," chosen among the one hundred of sunsets in Japan. The setting sun in the orange sea is so beautiful that it makes you sigh.

    There are many attractions in Amakusa to enjoy as a family. Of those, the most popular is “Dolphin Watching.” About 200 dolphins inhabit the area off the Amakusa shore and you can ride a boat to look at them from up close. The dolphins are used to the boats so it is ok to get very close. If you are lucky, the dolphins will swim along side the boat. Besides that, it is full of other fun spots like “Sea Kayaking” and “Glass Boat,” a glass-bottomed boat that lets you look into the sea.

    Aso, where magnificent nature spreads around Mt. Aso, is a tourist area representative of Kyushu. At “Kusasenri,” a great location that is popular among those, you can experience nature while walking on a vast prairie. Recommended for people who love animals is "Aso Cuddly Dominion," where you can actually interact with various animals and see shows with dogs, bears and penguins. Aso's gourmet food is cooking made with “Aka Ushi.” It is a rare cattle that is less than 1% of the beef consumed in Japan and a features juicy lean taste.

    Kuju, famous as one of the most popular driving routes in Kyushu, is an area where you can enjoy sightseeing while taking in the refreshing highland air. Of those, boasting the greatest popularity, “Kokonoe Yume Otsurihashi,” has overwhelming scale at 139 meters long and 173 meters tall, and it is constructed to carry as many as 1800 adults. It is the highest pedestrian walkway in Japan. There is also a place where the bottom can be seen through the latticed floor boards on the bridge, and the thrill is perfect. You will be united with the magnificent Kuju nature, and you can enjoy the feeling of a walk in the sky.
  • Hiji
    “Harmonyland” is the popular spot in the Hiji area. It is a theme park where you can meet Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and Cinnamon Roll. Besides attractions with the characters as a motif, the live shows and parades performed every day draw attention. The rich variety of character goods and original goods limited to the park are recommended for souvenirs. Near Harmonyland there is also Japan's largest safari park “African Safari.”
